New New: Berner and ANTWON Drop Fresh Releases Today

Grab your headphones because we've got some new music for you.

[jump] Hempire by Berner
Berner's 18-track Hempire clocks in at over an hour and features a long-list of big name guest artists, among them Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, K Camp, Travis Porter, Juicy J, Lil Kim, Project Pat, Young Dolph, and Mistah F.A.B. With its wavy synths, lush beats, and overall laidback vibe, it's the perfect stoner soundtrack, and one of the more introspective projects from the San Francisco native. In the album, Berner muses about mortality (“Murals”), boasts about his weed empire (“Best Thang Smokin'”), and waxes poetic about what would happen to his son if he ever went to prison (“Next Up”). Apparently this is the first of three albums that the rapper is preparing to release this year, so stay tuned. Also, catch Berner live at the opening show for his Best Thang Smokin' Tour which launches at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Wednesday, April 20.

Double Ecstasy by ANTWON
2016 is shaping up to be a big year for ANTWON. In February, he signed to the L.A. label Anticon and now he's dropped a new, five-track EP, Double Ecstasy. The nouveau old-school release is one of the MC's strongest efforts to date, packed with bouncy, upbeat bangers that are perfect the club, as well as chiller, hazier cuts that expertly showcase his deep, bellowing voice. The Lars Stalfors-produced project was “definitely the most fun to make,” the rapper said in a press release. “I feel like this record is a rebirth… It showed me why I started playing in bands and collaborating with other people.”
