Rock the Bells Announces Bay Area Dates

America's premier (and possibly only major) hip-hop touring festival, Rock the Bells, has announced the date and venue for the 2009 edition: August 9, at the Shoreline Auditorium in Mountain View. While ASD much prefers the parking lot of the stadium where the Giants play, we'll take our live hip-hop extravaganzas anywhere we can.

Scheduled RtB performers this year include NAS & Damian Marley, The Roots, Common, Busta Rhymes, Big Boi, KRS-One, House of Pain featuring La Coka Nostra, Reflection Eternal (Talib Kweli + Hi-Tek), Tech N9ne, RZA vs. GZA, Raekwon, K'naan, Sage Francis, Slaughterhouse (Joe Budden, Royce da 5'9″, Joel Ortiz, and Crooked I), Buckshot, M.O.P., Necro, Slum Village, Eyedea & Abilities, Evidence & Alchemist, The Knux, Psycho Realm, Mystik Journeymen, Chali 2na, Mickey Factz, B. Dolan, and Tabi Bonney (not all artists appear on every tour date, and the exact Bay Area lineup is still TBA).

While it's always nice to see rap's superstars in a live concert setting, it's the underground/emerging artists who fill the undercard which make the show a cultural event and not just a concert. Tickets are here ; watch this space  for more information.
