Autumns in the Bay Area have long been marked by Neil Young's acoustic Bridge School Benefit concerts at Shoreline Amphitheatre. Starting this year, we're getting a similarly high-profile acoustic benefit concert in the spring. On May 15, Sammy Hagar is convening a vast group of (mostly local) musicians including Metallica's James Hetfield, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, Joe Satriani, Scott Mathews, Nancy Wilson (of Heart), and Pat Monahan (of Train) and more for a special benefit show at the Fillmore. The concert will benefit the Pediatric Cancer Program at the UCSF Benoiff Children's Hospital, of which Hagar is a major supporter. Tickets for the Acoustic-4-A-Cure show go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday, March 21.
