Show to Know: Aretha Franklin at Oracle Arena Tonight

If you’ve never seen Aretha Franklin live and are feeling bad about it, please take comfort in the knowledge that it’s not you, it’s her: the Queen of Soul hasn’t played in the Bay Area for over three decades now. Which is one of the reasons why tickets for this special night have been selling at such a rapid rate. Of course, the other more obvious reason is the chance to hear one of the greatest vocalists of the last century belting out – as the title of the tour explains – “The Great Diva Classics”, up close and personal. Without Franklin, there’d be no Whitney, no Mariah, no Christina. Her importance to, and influence on, soul cannot be overstated, and, at the age of 73, Aretha is still the best of the best. Don’t miss the rare opportunity to see this legend live.

[jump] Aretha Franklin with Kenny ‘Babyface’ Edmonds, 8 p.m. Monday, August 10, at Oracle Arena, Oakland. $40.48 – $130.95.
