These Seventh Grade Rappers Are Smarter and Cooler Than You

These seventh graders, from the KIPP Bridge Charter School in West Oakland, have never lived in a world without Jay Z and Kanye West ubiquity. They were born roughly around the time Yeezy was making the beat for “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)”. But being just a fraction of your age doesn't mean they're not way more talented than you. With the help of rap-game-Bill-Nye Tom McFadden, they recorded this surprisingly intricate retelling of the discovery of DNA, to the tune of G.O.O.D. Music's “Clique” and Gwen Stefani's “Hollaback Girl.”

Besides the fact that one of those kids has the Big Sean stumble-flow down pat, probably the best thing about this video is the girl who plays Rosalind Franklin, the famously underrated female scientist (“I'm not a female scientist / I'm a scientist / man”) who pretty much discovered DNA before those two British guys. Anyway, you don't want to know the history because you're an adult and you're done learning things, but the point is she's back from her early grave to set the record straight and rap Watson and Crick's faces off:
