Young Prisms

With vocals firmly couched in and each song haloed with reverb, locals Young Prisms come from a school of hazy pop typified by Slumberland Records. This band isn't on that label, though. Like increasingly more acts, Young Prisms have liberally spread their releases over different imprints. There was a self-titled, five-song EP on Mexican Summer this year, plus another EP and split cassette elsewhere. The quintet's latest song, the bratty yet appealing “Amanda Brown,” will soon emerge as a 7-inch. There's no rush for an album, then, but the live show should unite those fleeting portions into a solid meal.
