Fans of Zola Jesus, the crown princess of witch house and its most enduring talent, may not recognize the name of her collaborator, J.G. Thirlwell, at first blush. But if you missed him when he made his mark in the '90s as aggro post-punk icon Foetus, you may be familiar with his more recent incarnation as composer of cinematic space-age bachelor-pad music for the Cartoon Network series The Venture Bros. His work with Ms. Jesus is a whole other animal, conducting soaring, melancholy strings to adorn a timeless voice that's more Adele than Alice Glass. The result is magical, a combination like vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup that will have Thursday's audience on its feet, begging for seconds.
