Aide to Kamala Harris Accused of Running Bonkers Fake Police Force

An aide to California Attorney General Kamala Harris has been accused of running a 3,000 year-old fake police department, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Brandon Kiel, 31, was working as a deputy director of community affairs for the California Department of Justice, but is now on administrative leave. He and two others, David Henry and Tonette Hayes, were arrested last week “on suspicion of impersonating a police officer through their roles in the Masonic Fraternal Police Department,” per the LA Times.

[jump] The website for the Masonic Fraternal Police Department is completely bonkers. The main page offers a history of the organization that traces back to the Knights Templar in 1100 BC:

The Masonic Fraternal Organization is the oldest and most respected organization in the “World.” Grand Masters around the various states are facing serious safety concerns for their Jurisdictions and their family members. The first Police Department was created by the “Knights Templar's” back in 1100 B.C.

The Masonic Fraternal Police Department, (M.F.P.D.) is the Knights Templar's!

When asked what is the difference between The Masonic Fraternal Police Department and other Police Departments the answer is simple for us. We were here first! We are born into this Organization our bloodlines go deeper then an application. This is more then a job it is an obligation.

The Masonic Fraternal Police Department (M.F.P.D.) is a Masonic Sovereign Jurisdiction (Municipality) located within the incorporated City of Santa Clarita, California. The Chief of Police is Honorable Grand Master David Henry 33º was elected and is Governed by a Grand Supreme Council, and 33 Masonic Jurisdictions. He currently oversees a 1/2 Million members throughout the United States.

Much of the site's content, including the promise of 6,8887 Grand Lodges, is password protected, and, sadly, the password is neither “password” nor “abc123.”

According to the LA Times, the organization came to the attention of the LA Sheriff's Department when it sent letters to Southern California police chiefs announcing its new leadership. Representatives from the sheriff's office met with members of the group and later searched two sites in Santa Clarita where they found “badges, weapons, uniforms and law enforcement paraphernalia.”

Kamala Harris was the District Attorney of San Francisco from 2004-2010. She is running for Barbara Boxer's seat in the US Senate.
