The San Francisco Police Department announced Monday morning that an arrest has been made in the 2017 hit and run incident that killed Konstantinos “Gus” Vardakastanis, the 57-year-old owner and founder Noriega Produce, Haight Street Market, and Gus’s Market. Vardakastanis was hit by a driver at Jerrold and Toland streets on Sept. 22 2017 shortly after 2 a.m., as he walked from his car to the produce mart to choose items for his businesses.

The arrest of 20-year-old Eleasia Fraise took place on July 16 in Stockton, after a warrant was issued. Fraise was initially booked into San Joaquin County Jail, but will be transferred to San Francisco.
