California Inmates Are Eating Again

The three-week hunger strike at prisons across the state has officially ended, with all inmates eating meals as of Tuesday.

According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the inmates were satisfied with the CDCR's plan to substantially review and make changes to its solitary confinement policies, which could take several months to finalize.

The Department maintained the commitment to review the policies that it had begun in May 2011 and discussed with inmates during a 19-day hunger strike in July 2011.
