The Medical Examiner's office moments ago told SF Weekly that the man stabbed to death late last night near 28th and Sanchez was Charles McAleer-Bonilla, a 30-year-old San Francisco resident.
KTVU-TV reported that police were first called to the area due to reports of some manner of fight in the normally sedate Noe Valley neighborhood. Instead they found McAller-Bonilla bleeding from multiple stab wounds. He was transported to the hospital but could not be saved. The San Francisco Police Department has not yet returned SF Weekly's queries for additional information.
This is the city's 14th homicide of the year and first since 19-year-old Cameron Enis was shot dead in Ocean View on Monday.
Update, 11:20 a.m.: Police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza was unaware of reports of a disturbance in the area last night. He said police received the call of “a man on the ground” at 8:53 p.m., and discovered the victim. A trail of blood led back to the 300 block of 28th Street. There is no information regarding a potential suspect at this time. Esparza encourages those in the know to call the police anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444.
