Chris Daly Vows To Haunt David Chiu, San Francisco Moderates

The Board of Supervisors is on the precipice of anointing City Administrator Ed Lee interim mayor — although the decision didn't come without cursing, fights … and perhaps a little backroom dealing?

The progressives failed in getting their pick — Sheriff Michael Hennessey — approved. But they did manage to convince the others to hold off on confirming Lee as the board appointment until Friday, perhaps hoping it would buy them some time to shift the political winds their way — and turn around an utterly calamitous day.

The eight-and-a-half hour meeting was composed of a heaping portion of political theatrics laced with curious moments, including when Supervisor Bevan Dufty — a longtime supporter of Hennessey — pulled an about-face.
