Driver Fatally Strikes 79-Year-Old Pedestrian in Portola

The woman was identified as San Francisco resident Piu King Dea.

A driver struck and killed a 79-year-old woman in Portola on Saturday morning, police said Monday.

The driver of a sedan struck Piu King Dea around 6:05 a.m. on Bayshore Boulevard and Bacon Street, just off US-101 and near the Bayview police station. The 79-year-old lived in San Francisco.

Police say the case remains under investigation and no arrests were made. The collision occurred during a seemingly relentless rainy weekend.

The last known fatal collision on Dec. 1 marked the loss of 31-year-old David Pulido-Contreras, a Redwood City resident who struck the railing of an Interstation 280 off-ramp to 25th Street in Portrero Hill. San Francisco also saw a suspected hit-and-run driver kill a woman in the Excelsior on Nov. 13.
