A Bay Bridge shooting that killed one and injured two others led to a crash that closed multiple lanes early Monday morning, authorities said.
The driver of a sedan headed east on the Bay Bridge when around 2:30 a.m. near Treasure Island, they heard what sounded like gunshots, according to CHP spokesperson Officer Kris Borer. An unknown suspect in an unknown car shot at an SUV, which then swerved left and crashed into a sedan.
The driver of the SUV died on the scene due to gunshot wounds and the two passengers were sent to the hospital with injuries, including one with a gunshot wound. It’s unclear if the other passenger has injuries from the shooting or the subsequent car crash, CHP Officer Bert Diaz said.
Three lanes closed until about 6:30 a.m. while investigators collected evidence and the rest of the lanes reopened by 7:45 a.m.
CHP has not determined a suspect or suspects as of Monday morning. The shooting remains under investigation.
