Forget About Gadflies. City Hall Now Has Its Own Iguana.

San Francisco's has always been one of the more exotic of American

political bestiaries, so perhaps it's only appropriate that Civic Center

Plaza is now the preferred stomping grounds of a large lizard.

The Lizard-at-Large is named Draco. SF Weekly Staff Writer Joe Eskenazi, ever a keen observer of the animal kingdom, spotted Draco with his owner, Scott Christian, this afternoon in front of City Hall.

Draco is an iguana.

Christian says he takes him for a walk everyday, so as to allow his reptilian companion to relieve himself outside the walls of his

apartment. At 15 years of age, Draco is a senior citizen among iguanas, which

have a lifespan of 10 to 20 years.
