The San Francisco High Times Cannabis Cup rolled into Santa Rosa this past weekend, at the sun-baked and dabbed-out Sonoma County Fairgrounds (which, after hosting the Emerald Cup last winter, is quickly becoming the Bay Area's premier locale for marijuana parties).
We and about 5,000 of our closest friends took it upon ourselves to support California's still nascent weed industry, which really is still struggling for official acceptance, despite 18 years of legal weed in the state and about four years' worth of Cannabis Cups in the Bay Area (and if you ask yourself why the “San Francisco” cannabis cup was in Santa Rosa, know: they've been more or less run out of town in San Francisco and Oakland).
The state's best strains, best concentrates, and best edibles were crowned by a pack of expert judges of discriminating tastes and infallible decision-making ability. An Oakland dispensary hired B Legit to perform at their booth, where medicated mini-donuts were doled out all weekend.
In short, it was real. But where, oh, where, are the best buds? A few local organizations won big. Read on.
