Medical authorities have identified the man shot by SFPD officers over the weekend as 19-year-old Kenneth Harding. Police say Harding was a parolee who was also a person of interest in the shooting death of Tanaya Gilbert last week in Seattle.
Police Chief Greg Suhr told reporters on Sunday that Harding was wanted for questioning in the homicide of Gilbert, who was pregnant. He had just been released from jail in King County in Washington state, where he had been convicted of sex crimes, according to news outlets.
The man was chased by police officers in the Bayview after he tried to dodge paying his Muni fare.
