A collision between a driver and a pedestrian shut down Oak Street for several hours Wednesday night.
According to police at the scene, the collision occurred at Baker and Oak streets, as a 60-year-old man crossed the street in a crosswalk. The driver, believed to be a woman, fled the scene eastbound on Oak.
“There was a traffic collision,” said Sergeant Fisher, who couldn’t confirm where or not a fatality had taken place. “We’re still in the preliminary stages of figuring it out.”
The incident took place shortly after 9 p.m. By 12:30 a.m. on Friday the block of Oak Street between Lyon and Baker was still shut down by police.
In an odd twist, a coyote sprinted down Lyon Street and across Oak Street shortly after midnight, unfazed by the lights and presence of police cars.
