Police moved in on Occupy Oakland protesters late last night, arresting a dozen as the demonstrated outside City Hall.
The protesters were hauled off to jail just two days after the city revoked the Movement's permit to have a tepee on Frank Ogawa Plaza as part of its ongoing 24-hour vigil to protest big banks. The tepee was supposed to be removed each night, but police say protesters were not complying, which provoked last night's raid.
At about 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Occupy Oakland wrote the following message on its website:
Twenty police cars full of riot gear clad cops. Eight arrests reported. Stuff confiscated. Cops withdrawing. Tree sitter still sitting.
