S.F Man Duped into Giving Tons of Cash to Crook Wearing Fanny Pack

This is a pretty simple lesson: Never trust a man in a fanny pack who is asking you for cash.

At about 1 p.m. on Monday, a man was leaving a drug store on the 700 block of Italy Avenue in the Excelsior neighborhood when a Asian man, who was wearing a plaid polo, khaki pants, and a fanny pack, walked up to him and asked for directions. The Asian man then told the victim that he was giving money to churches in San Francisco in exchange for a “larger monetary reward” at the end, according to police.

Already this sounds suspect.

The Asian man pulled out a letter from an insurance company to prove to the victim that what he was doing was completely legit. The man then told the victim that if he helped him collect the money, he would get a share of the “larger reward” at the end.
