SoundCloud, the audio platform that allows users to upload, record, and share music they make on the web, is expanding into San Francisco, the company announced today.
The fast-growing company first started in Berlin in 2008, after founders Alexander Ljung and Eric Wahlforss were frustrated because they couldn't easily send and receive large music files over the web. Since then, the company has grown with more than 2.8 million registered users, according to SoundCloud officials.
The company is opening an office in San Francisco so that it can be closer to the heart of the high-tech mecca of Silicon Valley, officials said. SoundCloud is already hiring.
