Three Drifters Linked to Murders of Canadian Tourist and Yoga Teacher Plead Not Guilty

The three young drifters who allegedly killed a yoga instructor in Fairfax and a Canadian tourist in Golden Gate Park last month have pled not guilty, Kron 4 reports.

[jump] Morrison Lampley, 23, Sean Angold, 24, and Lila Alligood, 18, were charged with first degree murder by the Marin County District Attorney’s office. (Although Lampley was identified as the shooter.) Per Kron 4, the scheduled arraignment date was postponed because one of the suspects hadn’t been assigned a court-appointed attorney.

After shooting 67-year-old yoga teacher Steve Carter on a hiking trail, the trio stole his car and drove to Portland, Ore., where they were apprehended by police. Carter's dog, Coco, was also shot but survived; Lampley faces a charge of animal cruelty.

The murder of 23-year-old Audrey Carey in Golden Gate Park during the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival put the Haight on edge, and stoked angry community meetings and a “zero tolerance” crackdown from Park Station police, which is still in full effect.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May. If convicted, the three face the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
