A 20-year-old man was shot and killed in Visitacion Valley on Tuesday night, according to police.

The shooting occurred at 10:18 p.m. on the 1600 block of Sunnydale Avenue, which is near Cow Palace, and the Sunnydale-Velasco public housing site. The San Francisco Police Department has not yet made an arrest, and have no additional information as of this afternoon.

SFPD confirmed to SF Weekly that Tuesday’s shooting marks the 48th homicide in San Francisco, a number that is on track to outdo the 59 homicides in 2016. So far, Oakland, which normally sees a higher homicide rate than San Francisco, has had 46 homicides so far this year, East Bay Times reports.

But our sister publication, S.F. Examiner, reports a slight decrease of non-fatal shootings. As of Saturday, there were 99 non-fatal shootings in September, compared to 110 at the same time last year.

UPDATE: Reginald Gage, Jr. has been identified as the 20-year-old man killed in Visitacion Valley, Bay City News reports. Gage is a San Francisco resident.
