While most of the Bay Area is fixated on the NBA Finals, the Women's World Cup will kick off this Sunday in Canada. The USA women's national team features several Bay Area soccer stars and has an actual shot at winning the tournament.
The month-long tourney isn't stirring up anywhere near the amount of local excitement last year's men's World Cup got, but Footy SF has compiled a helpful guide of the best spots around town to catch the action.
Most of the recommendations are San Francisco's usual roster of soccer bars, like McTeague's Saloon and The Mad Dog in the Fog, but you can also catch games al fresco at the Soma StreEat Food Park. The Parks Department will also screen games at Civic Center three times.
So get ready to yell and cheer and exorcise the nasty spirit of Sepp Blatter. Woohoo women's soccer!!!!
