It’s a little known but The Recording Academy, more famous as The Grammy’s, have a San Francisco voting community in the Bay Area. Tuesday evening, members of this chapter, consisting of talented local musicians, engineers, songwriters, producers and many of the background team members involved in the music industry, honor the many local nominees. This year’s celebration at the Regency Lodge included a short performance from last year’s winner for Best contemporary blues album, Oakland’s Fantastic Negrito, whom this Weekly have featured in the past as a busker at BART stations. The San Francisco Grammy Chapter also honored local nominees Metallica, Kehlani, Sarah McLaughlin including recognition to 2018 Special Award Merit to Bill Graham and the Meter’s Zigaboo Modeliste.
